Homes North Celebrates National Reconciliation Week 2024

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements. It is also an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on how we can contribute to reconciliation.

Our week of events commenced with the ANTaR Armidale Annual Reconciliation Week Bridge Walk. We heard from local high school student, Sophia-Rose Markham and enjoyed cultural dance and music. Across the week, Homes North hosted morning teas and lunches across our region, raised funds for ‘Wear It Yellow Day’, and hosted a screening of ‘The Last Daughter’ in Tamworth.

Our guest speaker at our Community Support Hub event in Armidale, Aunty Kerry Moran, encapsulates the meaning of NRW, “Reconciliation means building long-term relationships, merging interests, and developing a common understanding of history and aspirations…that it is about healing, understanding and working together to correct past injustices…and, that it requires ongoing effort and strong commitment to forging a shared future.”

NRW2024 has inspired us and reinforced our commitment to making greater effort and stronger dedication to forging a shared future across our region.
