At Homes North, we believe that communities thrive and people’s lives are enriched when they are given opportunities to be connected and engaged. In our work we aim to build a caring community with happy and connected neighbourhoods where people feel safe and included.
Each year, we run a range of community development initiatives that provide residents with the opportunity to establish or strengthen their relationships with other residents and their neighbours.
We have supported a range of community activities. Some of these are:
- Harmony Day
- Seniors’ Week
- International Women’s Day
- Reconciliation Week
- NAIDOC Week
- Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea
- Anti-Poverty Week
- Homelessness Prevention Week
We also offer community development initiatives developed specifically to meet the needs and interests of our residents. These include:
- Gardening competitions
- TAFE outreach courses
- Knitting Circles
- Christmas Parties
- Neighbourhood Meetings
- Volunteer Days
Homes North encourages our residents to be involved through our Resident Engagement Groups. These groups meet quarterly to raise issues, discuss how we can improve resident engagement and to plan ahead for events that involve our residents in community activities.
More recently, we have introduced a number of ongoing programs or initiatives that you may be interested in participating in. If you are interested in getting involved with any of these programs, please do not hesitate to contact our staff on (02) 6772 5133 or at click here to use our contact form.
