Homes North Attends PowerHousing Australia Member Exchange Conference

Last week a number of staff attended the annual PowerHousing Australia Member Exchange Conference in Canberra. It was a busy three-day event jam-packed with meetings, presentations, and networking opportunities.

Attending the conference is extremely useful for Homes North. It is an opportunity to learn from other organisations’ successes and failures. It is also a valuable networking opportunity, connecting us with Australian and international community housing providers.

Our CEO, Maree McKenzie, attended the PowerHousing CEO Roundtable. Challenging insights were shared by international guests and key take home lessons include – never losing our focus on providing quality service, maintaining our properties, and uniting as a sector when things get tough.

International guests from the UK and USA gave valuable insight into their respective housing sectors and Housing Australia CEO, Nathan Dal Bon, addressed the Australian housing crisis in his address, highlighting the Housing Australia Future Fund and the National Housing Accord. He spotlighted an additional $1 billion in funding from the National Housing Infrastructure Facility, and the Albanese Government’s $3 billion New Homes Bonus and $500 million Housing Support Program, among other initiatives.
