28 Jul Published: Winter 2025 Tenant Newsletter
Grab a cuppa and settle in – the Winter 2025 edition of the Homes North Tenant Newsletter is now online, and it’s packed with stories, tips, and updates from across our communities.
In this edition, we cover some big changes for tenants, including the new NSW Residential Tenancies Act rules that gives renters stronger protections. From an end to “no grounds” evictions to fairer rent increases, easier pet approvals, and more ways to pay your rent – we break it all down in plain language so you know exactly where you stand.
You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at our Gen-Z Living Your Best Life Youth Program. The program is co-designed with young people and covers everything from job readiness and digital safety to budgeting, healthy cooking, and renting your first home.
Our new Transfer Policy also makes it clearer and simpler for tenants to request a move if their current home no longer fits their needs – whether for safety, health, or work reasons.
Plus, meet the Tenant Advisory Group (TAG) members – Judith Russell, Tony Canvin, and David Walker – who attended the Community Housing Industry Association NSW conference held in early June. Judith, Tony, and David found the conference both inspiring and informative, and relished the opportunity to learn more about the broader community housing sector, connecting with other tenants and staff.
And, because it’s winter, we’ve included some winter warming tips to help you stay cosy without blowing the budget – from letting in the winter sun to stopping sneaky draughts around doors and windows.
We hope you enjoy reading the Winter 2025 Tenant Newsletter.
