28 Nov Reclaim the Night
On Friday 27 October the Tamworth Domestic & Family Violence Committee held their annual Reclaim the Night Walk. Homes North, along with other support providers, joined the walk to raise awareness of domestic and family violence, and to help end the silence that surrounds it.
The occurrence of domestic and family violence across Australia is at crisis point with, on average, one woman every nine days being killed by a current or former partner. According to Mission Australia, 1 in 6 women have experienced physical or sexual violence by a current or former partner.
As a community housing provider, we strive to provide safe and secure homes. We also work to help residents stabilise their lives by partnering with a variety of support providers. Traditionally, women are our highest resident demographic, followed closely by young adults aged 25 years and under. We value the work we do in our community and our role as a provider of safe and secure housing across the New England North West region of NSW.
