18 Nov TOGETHER HOME PROGRAM REGIONAL TOUR WITH HOMES NORTH (VIDEOS 1-3)
Since its inception in July 2020, more than 40 people have gained a tenancy with Homes North Community Housing under the Together Home Program.
Funded through NSW Government Department of Communities and Justice, the Together Home Program assists people out of street sleeping and into a tenancy with wrap around supports to help maintain that tenancy.
The program has been so successful that Homes North clients and staff have featured in a series of videos in support of National Homelessness Week (1-7 August).
Homes North client, Matt Barber, moved to NSW to be closer to his children, with the aim of being a positive influence in their lives. Matt admits to a life of drug addiction and with supports offered through the Together Home Program, turned his life around, quitting drugs and maintaining a stable tenancy in Tamworth.
Matt was keen to tell is story in the hope that others may see his successes and that funding will continue, helping others to take similar steps, make changes and break old habits.
In total, 750 people have moved from street sleeping and been housed through the Together Home Program across NSW in the first two years of the program alone.
